Quiet Night

Here is what I am up to tonight:

Cleaning my kitchen and making it look cute...at least attempting to!

Drinking my new tea - Pomegranate White Tea from Trader Joes. So. Amazing.
So there you have it! :) For those of you who have been over to my house...notice anything new in my kitchen? (You can see how it originally was here, if you have not...or don't remember!) More about that tomorrow. Stay tuned!

What a Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was a whirlwind of activity. I loved it!

First off, I started off Friday by visiting my favorite Barista at The Blue Ox, a local coffee shop. Missy was delightful, as always, and made me the best peppermint mocha that I have ever had! (Yes, including Starbucks....which happened to be my old favorite!) If you are in the Minneapolis area, you should check out The Blue Ox. Totally worth it!

Later on Friday, my friend Christina was celebrating her birthday with a 50's party. She came over around 3 and I did her hair and mine, and then we went to a diner for dinner, and then went swing dancing. Too fun!

Didn't her hair turn out fantastic! It was so cute! I loved wearing my hair curly too. It is going to happen more often. Especially since my hair is back in "Beiber Mullet" mode. Unfortunately, there is no getting around it...I must tough it out to have longer hair again. I will prevail!

Christina spent the night on Friday, and we watched Holiday Inn (one of my all time favorite movies - which she had never seen before!!!). On Saturday morning, my friend Jaci came over for brunch. The three of us made quiche, and then cuddled up on the couch to watch Australia. Good movie...but very long and very tense. It reminded me a lot of Gone with the Wind.

So there you have it! Wonderful weekend....and now on to a wonderful week! I've got plans to be productive and set up a routine for myself. We'll see how that goes.

How was your weekend?

Entwined Forever

I finished the paintings yesterday. Want to see?

And here is a close up of the bottom painting.

See? like I said, simple, meaningful, and beautiful. I like to think of these trees in love like Ian and I...our lives intersecting forever. Mmmm. :)

What do you think?

A Review of My Day

The view out of my kitchen window.
I don't have much to say, really. Today has been a good day and a bad day.

1. I was productive this morning.
2. I was so productive, I missed an important meeting.
3. I was able to find out the information for the meeting that I needed to know, and save face.
4. I had coffee with a lovely friend.
5. Vala has been in an obnoxious mood all day. I don't think she likes it when I'm up and doing things.
6. I talked to two other lovely friends today - some much needed catching up.
7. I hung my painting today. It is simple, meaningful, and beautiful. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

So there you have it. How was your day?

Blank Canvas

I decided to paint today. Something to hang in our bedroom. I don't know what yet, but it is going to be awesome. I only did things that I love today. Hung out with Ian, played with Vala, ate banana bread and drank coffee, painted (well, started it)...and read blogs.

I also discovered how cool Trader Joe's is. It was my third time going today (in a few years) and I finally actually shopped there. What a cool store! I came home with some basics. It is so relieving to know that I have healthy food in my kitchen. It takes part of the work out of planning healthy meals...and makes eating healthy even funner!

Ok. I think my first layer of painting is dry. I'm going to go back to working! I hope your day was lovely and relaxing too.

You Have My Heart

Today is a beautiful day. Not only is is gorgeous and sunny outside, but I spent the afternoon doing only things that I love. I visited Missy at the Blue Ox coffee shop. She made me some awesome coffee, and we had a wonderful time visiting/catching up. She's fantastic! Love that girl.

I then ran some errands. It was almost warm enough to drive with the window down! Talk about lovely. I then came home and made some valentines decorations. They brighten up our apartment so much - although the sunshine is very hard to compete with.

These decorations could not have been simpler. I cut out hearts from scrap-booking paper that I had laying around, and then threaded a darning needle with yarn. I treated the paper hearts like fabric and just sewed them together. The best thing about the scrap-booking paper is that it looks so pretty from both sides! I think this bunting might retire to our bedroom after February. It is just too cute to put away.

I hope your day is lovely as well! I am now off to a walk in the sunshine with my Valentine. :)

Madewell Spring Lookbook

I am so inspired! I discovered this while reading another blog, The Clothes Horse, and I fell in love! The colors are fantastic, and the looks are comfortable and classy. Pure love.

Beautiful, isn't it? I'm most definitely going to wear more color - it is just too wonderful not to! You can find the rest of their Spring collection here.
