Oh goodness! I have been so busy lately! To update you all, both Keeley and Kasey (my sister in law and sister) are here in Minneapolis - and I am having a wonderful time! We went downtown to the farmer's market yesterday, and then thrifting. It is was a blast! Vala is doing well - she is already so much bigger than she was. It is a little sad, but she is still quite a kitten. :) Getting into everything! I still love my job! And I am working less hours now, so I have a little more time at home.
Alright. On to sweet things! One thing that I have recently fallen in love with are headbands! For some reason, up until a week ago, I thought headbands were frumpy. Now, I know that they can be beautiful and so feminine. I have started a collection of lovely headbands, and cannot wait to start sporting them. Here are some pics of styles I love:
I hope to put some pictures up of some outfits that I have acquired lately. :) Since I have more time on my hands, I think I will.
Love,
Miranda

Meet Vala!
Ian and I got a kitten! She is so cute - and I love her. :)
She was so good last night. She had already been litter trained when she was given to us, but with the new change and all, we expected some accidents. ([---------;[pppppppppppppp;) <----------- This was her contribution to my blog. Haha, she just trotted over the keyboard. Anyway, there was one, but it was on something that could be thrown in the laundry...and then we left her in the bathroom with her litter and food to adjust. She only cried for five minutes! And when I checked on her at two, she didn't cry when I left. This morning, Ian and I found her curled up in one of the bathroom drawers. :)
I am sure that I will have more stories to share, but at the moment...my arm is under attack. I surrender! I surrender!
Love,
Miranda
P.S. For those of you who are wondering, yes. She is named after Vala from Stargate SG1. And believe it or not, I chose the name. :)

Perfect Picnic
Today, Ian and I headed out to Powderhorn Park, which is about a block and a half away from our apartment, and enjoyed a delightful picnic! I packed two peices of chicken, tortilla's, black bean and corn salad, chips, and watermelon. It was so good! And the park was delightful too. It was beautiful!
I thought you all might enjoy my recipie for black bean and corn salad - so here it is!
1 can of Black Beans (rinsed thoroughly)
1 cup frozen corn
1 meduim tomato (diced)
1 small onion (diced)
1 jalapeno (diced, with the seeds removed)
1 handfull of cilantro
1 tsp of salt
1 tbs of lemon juice
You just mix it all together, and let it marinate until you can't stand it any longer! :) It is one of the recipe's that Ian and I whip up on a regular basis. It is easy, delicious, and healthy.
I hope your day is just a lovely as my morning turned out to be!
Love,
Miranda

The Latest Batch
The housewarming party was a huge success! :) And here is the proof: (along with the last of the new apartment pictures...until I re-decorate. Haha!)
We had a wonderful time, with great friends! On a sad note, Craig leaves today. :( But he will be back. I'm sure! And this morning, I got up and communted to work on the bus and lightrail, only to find out that I don't work until two. *sigh* At least I am up and ready for the day, right? At least it is a beautiful day!

Summer Dreamin'
I know it is not winter, but it is very cold here, and has been for the whole month. May started off snowing, and it has barely been warm enough to rain - with the exception of one day which hit the 80's. I want summer to be here! I want to have to put sunscreen on....to take cold showers because I feel like it....to have a legitimate reason to buy icecream...to wear all my cute dresses without sweaters and leggings....and to go on late evening walks with my darling! Oh summer: where art thou?
So, this summer has turned out to be very different than what I assumed. So far, I am working 38 hours this week, and will continue to do so for the rest of the summer. I thought I would have more time - and might if I decided to ask for hours off. It is nice having the hours, and the money that comes with it - but I do not have time to have "summer"...and this is technically my last "summer" vacation for the rest of my life! Oh goodness.
But as for the new job - I really do like it! I like dressing up for work, I like meeting the new people and customers (the other day, I met someone from Olympia, Washington!), and I like the things that we sell - which makes it very hard not to buy something every day.
I recent news, I re-covered the papasan chair in the living room - just simple black, so it blends with the other colors Ian and I chose. We decided to go with mustard yellow, cream, grey, black. This is not what we originally intended; the rug we both liked was the deciding factor. :) I also am done un-packing for the most part! I would take pictures, but at the moment, I don't know where the card for the camera is. It will be found by tomorrow though!
Tomorrow is my day off, and Ian and I are having a housewarming party. :) For the new apartment. So, I suppose it would be an "apartment warming party". Ha! We are having great friends over, Phil and Lauren, Benjamin and Kristin (and thier new son, Asher!!!), Craig, and some others too. It is going to be a grand time! Ian is going to grill on the roof...that is, if it isn't raining!
Oh well. If you made it to the end of this, congratulations! And if you are still reading after my long leave of absence, you are a true friend. :) Thank you!

Miranda

At Long Last
WE HAVE INTERNET!!!! :) Can you tell I'm really excited?
Ok...as promised, I would post pictures of the apartment - and here is the first round. (There are still things that we have to put away, so the other pictures will come soon.) I proudly present to you, the living room - and snippets of the guest bedroom!
More to come! :)

I'm still Alive!
Today is the start of finals week. Fortunately for me, mine ends tomorrow! Yay. I only have one test to take, and a lecture to sit through. And then....summer!
As a side note - we are all moved into the apartment; we still have a TON of boxes to unpack, and more things to paint, and things to fix...but we are getting there. I will have more time after these two days.
Oh...and I got a job! I am quitting my old job (I am not sad to say that I am leaving) and am now going to work at Francesca's Collections. I love the dresses there, and the little knick-knacks they sell are so cute!
Alright. I have to go present a final - I just wanted to update and let you all know that I haven't died...I just still don't have internet at the apartment. Someday soon...we will be reunited!
Love,
Miranda
